The Partners have all held executive management positions in resources, energy or utilities companies in Australia and overseas and have also operated successfully as independent corporate advisors.

Jonathan Loraine, Partner

Jon’s experience spans Europe, Africa, North and South America, Australia and Asia in multiple commodities and all phases of the resource industry from exploration to production. Recent roles include Managing Director, Core Resources Ltd; EGM Exploration and Development, MIM Holdings Ltd and Managing Director International, Normandy Mining. In addition to his experience managing a diversity of business operations around the world, Jon has also led successful major projects, acquisitions, divestments, expansions, start-ups and other significant commercial transactions. His qualifications include BSc Mining London University, and MBA Cranfield University, UK.

Fiona Murdoch, Partner

Fiona’s achievements cover leading complex commercial negotiations and transactions relating to asset acquisition, disposal, and joint ventures within the mining and water industries in Europe, South America, Asia and Australia. This included the development of commercial strategies relating to MIM Holdings exiting its European smelting operations and was a key executive responsible for transitioning business assets and staff as part of a the recent water industry restructuring in South East Queensland. Fiona also has a strong understanding of regulatory environments and ensuring alignment of stakeholder interests. Recent roles include EGM, Corporate and Stakeholder Relations, Seqwater; Group Business Development Manager, Xstrata Copper Australia and MIM. Fiona’s qualifications include LLB (Hons) and MBA from the Queensland University of Technology.

Hugh Barbour, Partner

Hugh has extensive experience in all aspects of financial management, contract management and negotiation in the mining and energy industries. He has led multi-disciplinary teams in the performance review of significant assets as well as conducting audits and due diligence evaluations on potential acquisitions or asset improvements in these sectors. Hugh recently led the renegotiation of a complex agreement which involved the management of a multidisciplinary team and external advisors. Hugh is a Certified Practicing Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Business from University of Southern Queensland.
